Today is the first day of my life. At least, I think it is.
I can’t remember anything from before.
In my short time here, there’s two things that are certain.
I’m on a farm.
And I don’t know if I’ll make it through the week.
I started writing this back in mid October when Angry Robot announced an open call to authors. All they needed was a 70,000-100,000 word science fiction/fantasy manuscript by December 31. With all the responsibilities from work and home, I didn’t think I would be able to get it done on time. I’ve never written sci-fi before and knew it would be tricky for me. I doubled-down and decided to write it all in first person perspective – another first for me. Also, I did the math. To make that word count with the time given, I would have to produce around 1000 words/per day, given a day off here and there. I’ve never done that and was unsure that I could.
Tonight I wrote “The End.”
Word count: 73,244
